Training for self-reliant studying

At the self-reliant training they have the possibility to obtain information immediately about the knowledge of the students in person and they can use that info when they prepare for the next special lesson. Also, they are able to carry out the differentiated capacity building, especially with helping those slowly working or absent pupils to fall into line with the others or assisting the talented ones to prepare for competitions.

Firm basic skills: native language and logics in Math

Our aim is to form and develop our pupils’ logical way of thinking and troubleshooting skills, to obtain surety in the calculation processes and to strengthen their thinking in natural science. All are achieved by arising their interest and using exciting and joyful tasks. Playfulness is a very important factor in our lessons where we use a number of visual aids. Our main goal is to differentiate the pupils (assisting the ones with weaker capacities to catch up with the others, helping the gifted ones to prepare for the competitions) and also to load them with tasks in an optimal way. Gradualism is essential factor when we wish to help the students to achieve success, the success which makes them reach new goals.

English on higher level from the 1st grade, in split classes

In our school, teaching the English language is very important. We try to do our best to make the students be aware of the importance of language knowledge. We teach English in split classes (except the 4th grade). In the first three grades they have 20-minute lessons twice a week from the 4th to the 8th grade they have 5 English lessons per week.

Full-day school in the lower school classes

The pupils of the lower classes have lessons in the form of the so-called full day school (earlier called daytime school)
The main speciality of this educational form, apart from the special lessons, that the children’s timetables contain the following lessons as well:
physical education, free time activities, games, cultural, and handcrafts occasions and the lessons for independent learning. During these lessons, the teachers have fantastic chances to the pupils spend their free time in a meaningful and proper way. It means, on these lessons they can attend theatre and puppet shows, exhibitions, irregular lessons, and swimming and skating trainings.

Free time activities: choir, folk dance, chess, drama club, handicraft, sport games, important Days of remembrance.

International sister school contacts, student exchange programs

First we started a sister school contact with the Imre Szacsvay – that time named after George Cosbuc – Primary School, then with the Wroclaw Primary School in Poland, with the Smiltene Grammar School in Latvia, with the Ivan Gundulic Primary School in Zagreb, Croatia, finally with the Majsai Street Elementary School in Szabadka/Subotica.
With self-effort, using the support from applications and with the financial help of the self-government we have organized several meetings in each other’s schools and cities mutually.
Our sister schools have taken part in the reading competitions in English called EngRead, organized by the foreign languages teachers’ group from our school.
This is how we have managed to get into contact with the Grammar School number 10 in Lublin which is the latest contact of our school.

Sports facilities, championships

The group of Physical Education teachers survey those pupils who do sports, enter them and engage them the current individual and team sports.
The school’s sports club provides the facilities for meeting the pupils’ intensified demands of moving, organizes and serves the school championships both for the lower and upper classes in basketball, football, handball and the so-called captain bomber.

Active students’ council

The DÖK (students’ council) provides exciting programs for all age groups in our school which, as a matter of fact, means a great possibility to practice the school democracy as well. Besides those programs having been organized for years, each year we try to do our best to make out new ones together with the pupils (their leaders), to establish new traditions.
